KORN Needs To 'Chill Out For A While,' Says Singer
September 10, 2008The Pulse of Radio reports: KORN is currently taking an extended break, with the band not likely to begin work on its ninth studio album until sometime next year. Frontman Jonathan Davis, who's putting together his debut solo album, told The Pulse of Radio at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards that fans shouldn't worry about KORN being away for longer than usual. "We've been going 15 years, and we need to just chill out for a while," he said. "And you know me, I got to keep playing, I got to write music so I don't go crazy, so I decided it would be a perfect time to do this. It's not like a hiatus or anything, we're still all good, it's just when everybody's ready, we'll go back together and go do it. We just need to recharge our batteries and get hungry again."
Davis hopes to issue his solo album before the end of the year, with a tour to follow.
The singer did his first solo tour last November and December, and also appeared by himself at Ozzfest last month.
Former KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch released his first solo effort, "Save Me From Myself", on Tuesday (September 9).
KORN's last album, which was untitled, came out in the summer of 2007.
